Aimee Heroux-Spencer

As well as being a busy mother of three, Aimee is the only bilingual Equine Canada Level 1 English coach in our area. She has been riding since the age of three and joined the Temiskaming Pony Club at the age of five. Her involvement in Pony Club lasted over fifteen years, when in 2001 her association came to a close due to age restrictions.  Her love for horses has become her career.  She is a sympathetic teacher in tune with the needs of her students as well as the horses that they ride. Her quick wit and charming personality makes her stand out as a person who indeed cares about the world around her.

Aimee has participated in a three day course on training the Mounted Police horse for civilians, and plans on returning for another clinic.  Aimee has also graduated on the Dean's list with honours from the Northern College's Police Foundations Program.

We are pleased to report that Aimee has completed her Equine Massage Therapy course and is now a certified Equine Massage Therapist.  Please call her personally to book an appointment for your horse.  A one hour session can mean a lot to how your horse moves and feels.

We are very proud of Aimee's accomplishments and value her expertise.

Aimee & Kayla in Kentucky

Another one of Aimee's passions is the Mounted Games. As a ponyclubber, Aimee was on the Prince Phillip Games Team. Now she is past the age of 21 and no longer able to be a member of Pony Club, Aimee joined the Canadian Mounted Games Association. She attended the Erin Invitational competition and went on to compete on Team Canada White in Kentucky. Together with her three team mates, the young ladies won the B Division and came home with a beautiful rosette and cooler.

In 2002 Aimee joined forces with Jessica McVittie, Candace McMahon, Eliza Gravel and Kevin Durward to form the Northern Ontario Eskimo Pie's and took on the rest of North American in the team competition.  After three competitions, two in Barrie, Ontario and one in Quintin Pennsylvania, the team finished in the top six out of eighteen teams and ended up competing in the A Division Championships held in Lexington Kentucky.  The team fought hard and came up with a sixth place finish.  They were really pleased to have to compete against the top five teams in North America.

In 2002 Aimee had the opportunity to go to South Africa as part of the Canadian Mounted Games team on a 21 day teaching tour.  It was an experience of a lifetime... one that she will never forget.

Unfortunately Aimee's best friend and games pony, Misty Kayla, passed away in the fall of 2004.  Thanks to Melissa Barron, Aimee has been riding Alpha, a POA, who seems to likes the games.  We think they are a great team!

Team Canada White - B Division Champs

Aimee and "Dilly"

Dressage on her appendix quarter horse Tro Dial is one of Aimee's favourite things to do. Here she is pictured at the Greater Sudbury Dressage Association's Trillium Competition held in 2001. She was the Basic Trillium Champion.

Aimee and Dial went in a few parades with Kim Murphy of the Temiskaming O.P.P.  This was a new experience for them both, but one that they enjoyed.  They are planning on doing more of this in the future.
